Paul Ryan (R-WI) held a nationally televised town hall to defend his party’s support for President Trump and his policies. Ryan spoke to hard core Trump supporters, including Sister Erica Jordan, who asked Ryan about his party’s lockstep opposition to programs that help Americans living in poverty. Televangelist Jim Bakker has blamed the recent  lunar eclipse on former  President Barack Obama. “God came to me in a dream and said I should tell the world that I am plunging the world into darkness to remind people I’m still mad at the Obama years,” said Bakker on his online radio show. “Obama legalized witchcraft, sexual deviants getting married and schools started teaching transgenderism.” Franklin Graham, Loetz’s brother, has frequently accused President Barack Obama of being a Muslim. “While no one can know for sure if judgment is coming on America, it does seem that God is signaling…

George Washington would be horrified by President Donald J. Trump’s claim that there were “fine people” among those who rallied in Charlottesville, Virginia, with neo-Nazis, Klansmen and white nationalists, and that they were morally equivalent to those who protested the event. How do we know that? Read his famous letter of 1790 to the Jewish congregation here in Newport. It is arguably the first official commitment of the new federal government to religious and other forms of tolerance, written by the “Father of our country” more than a year before ratification of the Bill of Rights. It also was…

James Murdoch, CEO of 21st Century Fox and the son of conservative media magnate Rupert Murdoch, is not happy with President Donald Trump and has some harsh words about Trump’s failure to unequivocally condemn hate groups in the wake of a deadly terror attack by a white supremacist in Charlottesville, Va. In an email to friends obtained by the Hollywood Reporter, Murdoch said Trump’s tepid reaction should “concern all of us as Americans and free people.” “I can’t even believe I have to write this: standing up to Nazis is essential; there are no good Nazis. Or Klansmen, or terrorists,”…

According to The Washington Post, 16 members of President  Donald Trump’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities resigned Friday to protest Trump’s “hateful rhetoric” and defense of white nationalists following the violent rally in Charlottesville last weekend. Ru The group cites Trump’s “un-American” comments on the violence in Charlottesville as the last straw for them, but they list multiple other controversies that Trump has been involved in before the rally, including “undermining the Civil Rights Act” and his proposed cuts to arts funding. “Reproach and censure in the strongest possible terms are necessary following your support of the hate…
