Former President, Barack Obama is very grateful to his wife, Michelle Obama.
Obama gave special mention to Michelle he received the prestigious JFK Profile in Courage Award.
‘I also want to thank Michelle Obama for, after the presidency, sticking with me!’ Michelle was touched by his remarks.
‘I think she felt an obligation to the country to stay on, but once her official duties were over, it wasn’t clear,’ he said, prompting enthusiastic laughter from the well-heeled crowd.
More seriously, he continued: ‘I love my wife, and I’m grateful for her. And I do believe it was American’s great good fortune to have her as the first lady.’
‘I hope that current members of Congress recognize it takes little courage to aid those who are already powerful, already comfortable, already influential – but it takes great courage to champion the vulnerable and the sick and the infirm,’ he said.
