CNN reported that former first lady Barbara Bush is seriously sick and she is not seeking additional treatment. She has chosen to return to her home in Houston.
A statement released by a family spokesman earlier today reads, “Mrs. Bush, now age 92, has decided not to seek additional medical treatment and will instead focus on comfort care.” The news follows a “recent series of hospitalizations” due to the her battle with congestive heart failure and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

It continues, “Barbara Bush has been a rock in the face of her failing health, worrying not for herself — thanks to her abiding faith — but for others. She is surrounded by a family she adores, and appreciates the many kind messages and especially the prayers she is receiving.”
CNN’s Ana Navarro tweeted a heartfelt message, writing, “Guys, let’s put partisanship and political gamenship aside, and please pray for Barbara Bush and her Family. She is a special lady who touched so many people’s lives and made our country and our world a little better.”
Mrs. Bush has been married to former president George Herbert Walker Bush for over seven decades.
Twitter is understandably sad about the news:

As a Democrat, a former Obama Appointee, and American, this breaks my heart. First Lady Barbara Bush is the definition of class. I hope she feels all the love she deserves in these tender moments with her family. America loves you, Madame First Lady. 😞

Despite being a life-long Democrat, I really like and respect Barbara Bush. She is the epitome a strong Matriarch and represented America so well as First Lady-I am thinking about her today. ❤️
