He made this disclosure when he filed his financial disclosures with the Office of Governmental Ethics. He also appears to have signed his name with a sharpie on the forms.

On the form, a footnote mentions that the disclosure of the reimbursement made to Michael Cohen in 2016 was made “in the interest of transparency,” and that those expenses were not “required to be disclosed as ‘liabilities.’”

However, a letter that accompanied the disclosure forms that was made out to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein from David J. Apol, the director of the Office of Governmental Ethics, said that the payment was in fact required to be disclosed as a liability.

“I am providing both reports to you because you may find the disclosure relevant to any inquiry you may be pursuing regarding the President’s prior report that was signed on June 14, 2017,” Apol writes.

The disclosures also detail Trump’s many real estate dealings, which provide a glimpse into the president’s financial disclosures. The 92-page report covers the income generated from properties like Mar-a-Lago, his Washington hotel and a golf resorted in Miami called the Trump National Doral. Some of the properties didn’t perform as well as expected. Since Trump has taken office, he has not opened a new property in the U.S,, nor has the Trump Organization sought to make any new deals abroad.
