GOP Sen Orrin Hatch INSULTS ‘Obamacare Supporters Are The Stupidest, Dumbass People I’ve Ever Met’

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) might be leaving the Senate this year, but he’s not retiring before making a big splash. He started his “Goodbye, America” tour by calling supporters of the Affordable Care Act some “of the stupidest, dumbass people I’ve ever met” during a speech for the American Enterprise Institute.

“We […] finally did away with the individual mandate tax that was established under that wonderful bill called ‘Obamacare,’” Hatch said, according to Fox News 13. “Now, if you didn’t catch on, I was being very sarcastic.”

“[The Affordable Care Act] was the stupidest, dumbass bill that I’ve ever seen. Now, some of you may have loved it. If you do, you are one of the stupidest, dumbass people I’ve ever met. This was one—and there are a lot of ’em up on Capitol Hill from [that]time,” Hatch added.

Even as Hatch delivered his statement, there were only a few nervous chuckles in the room and a very obvious sympathy laugh.

Fox News 13 reports that “dumbass” is one of Hatch’s favorite terms, saying it quite often.

Matt Whitlock, a spokesman for Senator Hatch’s office, sent Fox 13 a statement claiming, “The comments were obviously made in jest, but what’s not a joke is the harm Obamacare has caused for countless Utahns.”

Mitt Romney is currently running in Utah for Hatch’s seat, with the endorsement of Trump and Hatch, but when the news outlet reached out to his office about Hatch’s “dumbass” statements, they declined to comment.

That’s probably a smart move, considering that many Utahns are still enrolled in Obamacare insurance.
