Michelle Obama will be celebrating with Ellen DeGeneres on her 60th birthday on the show. This will be her first TV interview since leaving the White House.
The audience for the first of two birthday-themed shows will be “filled with people who are paying it forward” and have participated in DeGeneres’s #OneMillionActsofGood campaign, according to the daytime talk program.
Obama has kept a decidedly lower profile since exiting the executive mansion last January, but was a frequent guest on DeGeneres’s show as first lady.
She co-hosted DeGeneres’s eponymous chatfest back in 2016. In 2012, she went head-to-head against DeGeneres in a push-up competition to promote her “Let’s Move!” anti-childhood obesity initiative.
In a message last year to mark the 20th anniversary of DeGeneres coming out in an episode of the comedian’s 1990s sitcom, Obama called the Emmy winner “brave” and “kind,” saying, “Time and time again you have shown us what love really means.”
