While the world is wondering if Oprah Winfrey will run for president in 2020, the White House may be nursing an ambition to run against Winfrey.
Winfrey’s rallying cry Golden Globe speech when she won the Cecile B. DeMille award has got us taling. Some of her words certainly felt like a pre-campaign speech:
I want tonight to express gratitude to all the women who have endured years of abuse and assault because they, like my mother, had children to feed and bills to pay and dreams to pursue. They’re the women whose names we’ll never know. They are domestic workers and farm workers. They are working in factories and they work in restaurants and they’re in academia, engineering, medicine, and science. They’re part of the world of tech and politics and business. They’re our athletes in the Olympics and they’re our soldiers in the military.
Trump feeling about the prospects of running against a political outsider with more fame and respect than he had ever enjoyed:
“We welcome the challenge, whether it be Oprah Winfrey or anybody else,” White House spokesman Hogan Gidley told reporters traveling aboard Air Force One with the president to Tennessee on Monday. Trump is “absolutely … going to run for president again” he added, and said Trump’s record would outmatch any contender.
“Regardless of who decides to run against this president, they are going to have to face a president who has record-setting achievements in a record-setting time,” he said.
