President Donald Trump’s first year in office has been marked by many as a year of failure, embarrassments, and scandals. Trump’s approval ratings are dismal, getting as low as 32% and making him the least popular president since modern polling began.
And now, there are more Americans who want Trump impeached than there are that will vote for him in 2020.
According to a new poll by NBC News/Wall Street Journal, 41% of voters believe that “Congress should hold impeachment hearings to remove Donald Trump from office.” Meanwhile, just 36% of Americans will “definitely” or “probably” vote for Trump in 2020.
The poll also indicates that Americans are split when it comes to the Russia investigation. When asked if they believe that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia, 38% said yes, and 35% said no. And whether or not the Trump is guilty of wrongdoing, 36% said yes while 28% said that though there were indictments, Trump was not at fault.
But it’s not just Trump who’s polling poorly. His current approval rating, from this poll, is 37%–4% higher than the Democratic Party. And while that might not be good for Democrats, Trump’s score is a full 10% higher than the Republican Party. Meanwhile, the most positive results were for the FBI, which has. 47% approval rating, an institution Trump and the Republicans continue to attack.
