Trump has a new envoy role!
Do you think the Middle East will find peace under Trump’s leadership?
On Wednesday President Donald Trump promised to intervene as “an arbitrator ” to help broker peace involving the Palestinians and Israelis as he welcomed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to the White House. President Abbas hasn’t visited Washington in a long time.
“We will get this done,” Trump affirmed.
Trump reiterated that Israelis and Palestinians need peace and called on all leaders from Palestine to “speak in a unified voice against incitement to violence and hate.”
“There’s such hatred, but hopefully there won’t be such hatred for very long,” Trump said, standing alongside President Abbas in the Roosevelt Room.
The Palestinian leader welcomed Trump’s role as a peace mediator in the negotiations. He said he had “hope” for peace with Trump in the lead as he commended the President for his bargaining acumen.
“I believe that we are capable under your leadership … and your ability … I believe we can be partners — to bring about a historic peace treaty,” Abbas said. “Now, Mr. President, with you we have hope.”
Trump had earlier this year indicated that he’d “love” to see the Israeli-US embassy move to Jerusalem; he is still hushed over the issue despite the new developments with the Middle East nations.
