President Donald Trump has opened up on his relationship with his darling, Melania Trump amidst the controversies surrounding the two of them.
Trump who was at South Carolina rally to support Governor Henry McMaster who is in a runoff for the GOP nomination, rambled from topic to topic during his 50-minute speech at the rally.
He brought Melania into the conversation on a rabbit trail rant about the host who followed him on NBC’s The Apprentice, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
He told a story about what Melania said when Schwarzenegger replaced Trump on the reality TV show. Trump told the crowd that Melania said, “There is nobody, darling, that can take your place.”
The crowd cheered wildly at the mention of Melania. Trump who feeds off of praise and applause continued to discuss his wife, as she was clearly a popular talking point for the South Carolina rally crowd. As the crowd cheered he said, “Isn’t she smart? Isn’t she smart?” He added, “And she has got a great style.”
Then he talked about how nice she looked when visiting with the King and Queen of Jordan. He said, “She has done a tremendous job as first lady.” Then he decided to talk about his wife’s notable absence from the public eye following a kidney procedure in May.
He said, “And you know she had an operation a few weeks ago, a kidney operation, and she’s going to be great; she’s fine.”
Then he decided to bring up all the internet conspiracy theories offered to explain her absence. He said:
“They had all kinds of projections. They said she got a facelift. No, I would let you know. They couldn’t hide that one for long. They said she left me and moved to Virginia. They said she left me and moved to New York. She moved to Virginia, she moved to New York. The only thing they wouldn’t say is what happened, and that’s OK. She’s private. She doesn’t want to talk about things.”
Then he commented on the state of their relationship before trailing off into a conversation about polling. He said, “We have never done better than we are doing now.” Trump continued, “We have never had a time like we have now. We never have. We’ve never had higher polls than we have now— even Gallup, who treats me horribly.”
